You have discovered a sampling from our collection of Japanese hina dolls. These dolls are associated with the Japanese holiday called Girl's Day. Yes, there was a Boy's Day. About 10 years ago, both were combined into Children's Day which is always celebrated during the first week of May.
The set of hina dolls consists of an emperor, empress, 3 maidens, 3 servants, 2 ministers and 5 musicians for a total of 15. From there the sets included doll furniture (small chests, trunks, sewing boxes, chests of drawers, palaquins, ox carts, tables, stands, lamps....the list is long). Not all sets had all these items. Some consisted solely of the emperor and empress (the imperial pair). Others added maidens. The better sets consisted of dolls that have gofun faces (crushed sea shell) with set in glass eyes and wooden hands. We have some of everything.
From our collection, we can provide:

Below left D245: 33 maids where tallest is 7.5 inches, plastic hands, cut in eyes. Price: SOLD
Below right and four faces that follow are D71: Imperial pair where emperor is 10.5 inches tall. Both have gofun faces, wooden hands and cut in eyes. UNFORTUNATELY, the face on empress is cracked with the crack running from neck up thorough chin, past mouth to the nose and then stops. Despite damage, she is gorgeous. This is the ONLY damage to either doll. The face of the emperor is perfect. The garments of both dolls are perfect. Price would have been $250 but because of damage to empress, the price is reduced to just $100. Bottom line is you are paying less than what the emperor alone should have cost and get the empress for free!
