JAPANESE KOKESHI DOLLS
Kokeshi dolls are usually made of wood. The earliest are those with a simple found head atop a shaft meant to be the body. Over time, the art form has progressed to include a wide variety of dolls. Please enjoy some from our collection. Also, we apologize that there are so few and what there are......are moving to good homes faster than I ever imagined. We look for these while on our tours. They are becomming harder to find and more expensive with each trip. So, if you are interested in these wonderful dolls, I suggest checking back often. Those making purchases will receive an email when this page is updated.
To help determine the size of these kokeshi, there is a board behind the dolls with horizontal lines at the height of 5, 10 and 15 inches. In addition, there are two standard wine bottle corks in each photo.
Here are the codes which follow the identifying number for some kokeshi:

If a particular kokeshi has been sold, the number associated with that kokeshi will be replaced by an x.

Kokeshi Sake Bottle: I have THREE available where one has a small chip in the bottle just below where the face would connect. Yes, that chip can be seen but it is very, very minor. The good bottles are $20 each. The one with the minor chip is $10.
